The HDMI Voltage Inserter is the ideal solution for supporting HDMI bus-powered devices such as extenders, active cables with embedded chip sets, or signal sensing switches. HDMI was not designed to support bus-powered accessories. The power supplies associated with source devices such as computers, teleconferencing codecs, media players and set-top boxes are designed, according to HDMI standards, to deliver a 55mA hot plug supply. When an accessory demands more current than the source can supply, the system may fail to operate dependably. Insufficient power may manifest as a flashing image (HDCP problem), distorted video (EDID related issues), or even a complete loss of the image (hot plug assertion failure) Maintaining the proper voltages in the HDMI System is critical to the hardware “handshake”, HDCP key authentication and exchange, EDID information exchange and hot plug connection detect.

This voltage inserter isolates the power from the source device and provides a full 5 volts and up to 1000mA of clean, dedicated power to support HDMI switching, splitting and extension accessories. If an installation leverages active cables with embedded chipsets, embedded electronic-to-optical media conversion, signal-sensing auto-switching or similar devices, then this power inserter will be a critical performance element.

Instructions For Use:
  • Connect the voltage inserter directly to the HDMI output port of the source device.
  • Connect a HDMI cable from the HDMI output of the voltage inserter to the HDMI input of the display or other HDMI device.
  • Connect the AC adapter of the voltage inserter to an available power outlet.
Connector 1:
(1) HDMI Male

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked when almost all hope was lost. So I have a complicated HDMI setup in one of my church buildings. (wall plate -> 45 ft cable -> HDMI auto switch #40349 -> 1ft HDMI cable -> HDMI splitter -> 100ft HDMI cable to projector.) Without the voltage inserters, this projector would have never gotten off of the ground. I have placed 3 voltage inserters in this configuration. (One inside each wall plate, and one prior to going to the projector), I get CRYSTAL CLEAR picture without any problems. BTW the other leg of the splitter goes to an HDMI to SDI adapter which then goes to a computer. Love the products from C2G, high-quality stuff for not a lot of $$$. If you are running a long cable run, put one of these near the source and you will have a lot more stable of a connection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as it should We've purchased a number of these to power fiber optic HDMI cables which have an issue in longer lengths with the HDMI output of the source device not having enough current to power the transmitting circuitry. They've worked like a charm so far with not visible issues.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Will not permit 1080p with 1080i Cable Tried to use this to fix an incompatibility issue with the Rapid Run Digital cable and a 1080i setting on a projector. In 2008, Rapid Run Digital cable was not rated for 1080i, so be sure to verify your interface before ordering. There should now be a 1080i Rapid Run offering.

Questions & Answers

Will this device block unwanted voltage on HDMI in favor of the inserted 5vdc?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. It blocks the HDMI power pin coming from the source device and sends a 5V 1A signal from the inserter to the destination.

This device will do 100-240 and 50 and 60hz. So a adapter will work with out converter the power.

I understand Active HDMI flying leads are not available. Is this a replacement component that will ensure HDMI over a 50-70' runner?

Asked by: Darren
The Actives are no longer avaliable though us. Some resellers still have the active leads. This device will only insert the 5v power to the HDMI cable.

Does it add the power to pin 14 ?

Asked by: Ben
This adapter adds power to a HDMI connection when that power is not present. This will not enhance or extend a HDMI signal.

In Australia our power is 230V 50Hz. If we used an adapter to change the plug type would the device work normally?

Asked by: Anonymous
If you used a power converter, this would work properly. Please note that this product is intended to be used in conjunction with RapidRun assemblies.
