I need to connect my apple tv box optical audio to an older stereo receiver. The receiver works just fine but it does not have an optical audio in slot. All it has are the standard slots where you use the cables with the red, white, and/or yellow ends....

I need to connect my apple tv box optical audio to an older stereo receiver. The receiver works just fine but it does not have an optical audio in slot. All it has are the standard slots where you use the cables with the red, white, and/or yellow ends. Do you think this cable will work with the stereo system It is JVC from 1980s I think. It works fine with all the other newer equipment I have. Even the HDTV connects through it just fine. Thanks.

You would need a DAC (digital to analog) converter. You could use our product 28727 with an optical cable and a stereo audio cable to make that connection.

I am trying to utilize my surround sound beyond just analog version. Insignia tv only has a headphone out plug, the bose surround sound has the digital optical plug..both requiring male ends. Will this work to produce the sound I need from the speaker ...

This cable will not work for your application as your Insignia TV only has a headphone jack (most likely for either a 1/4 inch or 3.5mm analog connection) and not a 3.5mm Digital Optical jack. The item you are looking for will need to convert from analog to digital. At this time we do not have a solution for this application.
