I have a sony handycam camcorder model dcr-sx44. By the picture, it looks compatible, but by the uses section under the product it does not mention my camcorder or model. Are the uses listed strictly the only ones that will work with this usb?

It is not compatible with that camcorder. That model comes with a proprietary mini USB connector that we do not carry. I would contact Sony for a replacement USB cable.

I have an old sony digital Hi-8 camcorder that originally would plug into my computer with the firewire. The current computer has no firewire ports. I'm looking for a cable that would connect to the camcorder through the original firewire port and then connect to the computer with the USB end. The model number of the camcorder is Sony DCR-TRV320 Digital Handycam.

We do not have a FIrewire to USB converter. To our knowledge, that cable does not exist. You would need to add Firewire ports to that computer in order to make that connection.
