Challenge
As hospitals work toward implementing their electronic medical record (EMR) programs, computer workstations are being installed at point-of-care, in operating rooms, and in various non-traditional work areas.
IRG specializes in the installation of wall mounted work stations that articulate and stow for clinician convenience. The cables used to integrate the IT equipment need to mirror the movement of the wall mounted arms. Stock cables are not the right length for these applications. If the cable is too short, the arm can't articulate or achieve its maximum reach. If they're too long, they create aesthetic and safety issues—including infection control risks.
IRG needed cables that could be produced in various custom lengths, meet the rigorous demands of the wall mounts, and offer flexibility and ease of movement.
Solution
C2G worked with IRG to produce cables in specific lengths for their hospital installations. The Flexima product offered a cable that was both supple and thin enough to allow multiple cables to fit within the wall mount's internal channel. The Flexima-type product could be ordered in custom lengths and gauges.
IRG now utilizes C2G's custom length Flexima VGA cables for every wall mounted arm they install. Their installation kits also include C2G's power cables, USB extensions, patch cables, cable ties and raceway to complete the installation. The molded trim raceway is perfect for hiding any remaining cables that are external to the mounting solution.
"Having quality, custom length cables is one of the things that separates us from the competition," notes Cy Martinez, IRG Technology Director. "A clean, aesthetically pleasing installation is one of our hallmarks. Customers want quality cabling, but they don't want to see it."
Results
IRG has increased its IT installation business in the healthcare market by 122% during the past 24 months. According to Cy, IRG has "the right vendors, the right components, and the right processes," for ensuring a turnkey solution for IT rollouts. They handle everything from workflow analysis and product selection, to factory certified installations and preventative maintenance visits.
When asked about partnering with C2G, Cy sited several of reasons for his selection. Although competitive pricing was important, quality and service were also important factors. "We've experienced less than a 1% failure rate on the Flexima product, "Cy confirmed. "And that's remarkable considering the fact that these cables are in constant motion."
Over the years, Cy and the IRG staff have developed a great rapport with the C2G staff. According to Tracy Adler, one of IRG's project managers "the C2G staff is always responsive, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile when we need it. IRG appreciates the quick turn-around, warehousing of custom product and availability of stock items."
